2 June 2009

I am actually proud of this one. It has taken me a week to finish (3 of the days with no sleep... but i guess i'm not very different minus sleep, just say things more).  It is 30" by 40" making it the largest piece i've done all summer. It's much larger than my coffee table.

I really enjoy the incomplete circles. We are always told that circles are perfect, complete shapes, but in reality many things described as a circle are not. Perfection in geometry is a myth like perfection in reality. although in reality we can at least strive for perfection. All of the circles on this piece are not perfect. All are similar with the basic circle, but from there it evolves. Some are similar in color, but they do not have much area painted int. Sometimes the paint goes outside the lines. Something outside the "perfection" of the circle. and some (5) of the circles are left blank to show the ideal circle. Put your own meaning into how there are differences in colors, shapes, textures, and tones (all of which you can't see thanks to camera phone pictures). Art, like literature, has more to do with the observer than the creator for me. How, if at all, it effects you. no wrong answers, even if you don't have an answer.

unfortunately i'm probably not done with my circle study. if you've seen of the early things you know i'm not just starting either. For now goodbye and follow your dreams, be safe.
